| "O Casarão", as it is today, was built on the second half of XIXth Century. It has been considered by IPAC-BA (Historical & Cultural Patrimony Institute) as Monument of Environmental Value under No. 32201-0.4-I002. The history of this inn transport us to the begining of history at the Island: at the begining of XVIIth Century, Captain Lucas Da Fonseca Saraiva´s daughter moved to Morro de São Paulo and |
ordered the construction of a small chappel closed to her residence, and it was
consagrated to "Nossa Senhora da Luz" (Our Lady of Light). This origimnal
chappel was built at the same place where the actual churche is. |
